I'd been drawing reptiles in suits for weeks — bureaucrats, ledger-keepers, the whole Department of Reptilian Affairs lineage — when a shark wandered into the sketchbook by accident. He had the wrong species and exactly the right energy. The phrase 'Bite-Sized Interest' arrived before I finished inking the lapel; it was the kind of pun I would normally cross out and didn't. I kept the scroll-banner heavy, the navy slightly faded, the smile just past polite. Six sketches in, this was the one.
